Several deaths have been reported following a Navy attack on a police station in Calabar, southeast of Nigerian.
According to the Premium Times Nigeria, the arson attack on the Police station took place Tuesday night following and earlier incident between a police traffic officer and members of the navy on Tuesday afternoon in Calabar.
The traffic officer attempted to stop the navy members from driving through a red light, which resulted in a scuffle. “The dispute died down after senior police and naval officials intervened. But later in the evening, naval officers attacked a local police station and started shooting and burnt down the facility,” the paper stated.
The Nigerian navy has not publicly commented on the incident though the The Nigeria Police Force had earlier Wednesday posted images of burning cars, apparently from the incident. The images have since been taken down.
