All is set for the triennial National Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) scheduled to hold in Benin City, the Edo State capital, from May 17-19, 2017.
The highlight of the delegates’ conference will be the election of a new NAWOJleadership. The forthcoming elections will be the most keenly contested elections in the history of NAWOJ with 3 candidates contesting for the position of President, while 4 candidates will be contesting for the position of National Secretary.
Over 1000 delegates (female journalists) are expected to attend the conference.
A statement by the Chairperson, Edo state chapter of NAWOJ, Flora Bossey revealed that female journalists from the 36 States of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja are expected at the event whose activities will be opened by the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki.
She also expressed profound appreciation to Edo State Government and other corporate organisations and individuals who support in hosting the Conference.
