The official launch of the Nigeria National Action Plan, NAP, (revised version), of the United Nation Security Resolutions (UNSCR) 1325 on Women, Peace & Security was launched yesterday, May 9 at the State House in Abuja.
The revised Plan for the period 2017 to 2020 includesconsiderations on non-inclusion of violent extremism, absence of crisis management and recovery strategies, limited consideration of post conflict and re-integration issues and policy and operational gaps.
The Revision of the NAP is a clear indication of the commitment of Nigeria’s Government to creating and enhancing an enabling environment for women’s active participation in peace and security at all levels.
Though the lunch of the Plan is an indicator that Nigeria is committed to promoting and protecting the right of all women, there are key concerns, which include, sustaining the momentum and improving accountability in all states, federal government andthe National Assembly and partners.
