Focusing mainly on the eradication of obstetric fistula, the ECOWAS First Ladies met at a forum in Niamey on Thursday, 5 October. They visited the “National Center of Reference of obstetric fistula of Niamey” created in 2008.
The First Ladies exchanged with patients who were also taught skills such as tailoring, making necklaces and trimmings for women.
At the end of the forum, the First Ladies of ECOWAS identified the fight against obstetric fistula as their permanent creed.
On the sidelines of this forum, the First Lady of Mali, Ms. Keita Aminata Maïga met with the Malian community, including the students. The exchanges focused on current events in Mali and the living conditions of Malians in Niger.
